Micronutrients
Vitamin A- Good sources of natural (not synthetic) vitamin A include egg yolks (which also has vitamin D and zinc), fish oils, and liver.
Vitamin E- The natural forms of vitamin E are eggs, liver, green foods, and rose hips, have been found to be more effective than the synthetic formulations.
Vitamin K- Natural sources of vitamin k include dark green vegetables such as kale, spinach, and broccoli.
Minerals
Iodine- Can be found in fish, liver and kelp.
Iron- Can be found in meats, vegetables, and whole grains.
Probiotics
Are supplements that can boost the beneficial bacteria colonies in the large intestine. Yogurt is an excellent probiotic, as are acidophilus supplements. The high heats of commercial dog-food preparation will kill any probiotics present in the food; these need to be added to the diet when the food is served.
Phytonutrients
The foods include berries, dark green vegetables, tomatoes, carrots, and yams.
